Rah Rah – “Art and a Wife” {Alternative Pop/Rock} + Free downloads

Hailing from Regina, Saskatchewan, one of our favourite Prairie bands has just revealed not one, but two brand new tracks off their forthcoming album The Poet’s Dead; (listen to the twangy other single “Prairie Girl” here). And if you join the group’s mailing list here you will receive a free “criminally unheard” Rahmixes album via e-mail.

Pure Bathing Culture – “Gainesville” {Dream Pop/Rock}

Here’s yet another great single from the Portland-based band Pure Bathing Culture, which is off their forthcoming self-titled debut EP. The Flaming Lips-ish track is the second single off the release (due out November 19th); to listen to the first single “Ivory Coast” click here.

Tame Impala – “Elephant” (Todd Rundgren remix) {Rock/Electronic}

Even though Tame Impala debuted this single a few weeks back, they just posting a brand new Todd Rundgren’s (AKA Liv Tyler’s first “daddy”) remix of the track  this past week. The song is off the group’s forthcoming album Lonerism, which is set to be released October 9th via Modular.

A.C. Newman – “I’m Not Talking” {Folk/Pop} + Free download

This is the first single off The New Pornographers’ frontman’s third solo album Shut Down the Streets, which is out October 9th via Matador/Last Gang. If you like what you hear then be sure to give his Facebook page some like love to get a free download of the track.

Baio – “The Silent” {World Music/Electronic} + Free download

Vampire Weekend’s Chris Baio only just released his debut solo EP Sunburn back in May, but he’s decided to surprise us fans with two brand new tracks which are apparently taken from a new “mini EP.” To hear the second track off the EP (“New You”) click here.

The Music Tapes – “Playing ‘Evening’” {Psych Pop} + Free download

This grower of a track from the Athens, Georgia-based band is off their new album Mary’s Voice – their first release since 2008. Some members were previously involved in other musical projects like Neutral Milk Hotel, The Olivia Tremor Control and even the Elephant 6 Collective, and word on the street is that they plan on performing their next tour in a circus tent.

Karen O – “Strange Love” {Alternative Pop}

This new Karen O track ain’t no “Y Control” or “Date With the Night” but that’s because it’s going to be featured in Tim Burton’s upcoming kiddie film Frankenweenie. In a recent interview Karen O explained how the tune is influenced by the 1998 film Beetlejuice, and was apparently written to accompany Frankenweenie’s closing credits.

Calvin Harris ft. Florence Welch – “Sweet Nothing” {Electronic/Pop}

After weeks of waiting for the new Calvin Harris collaboration track with Florence and the Machine’s Florence Welch, the famed Scottish DJ/producer has finally posted the single via his Soundcloud account. The track is off his Harris’ new album 18 Months, which also features Dizzee Rascal, Ellie Goulding and Tinie Tempah.

Sr. Sly – “Ghost” {Electronic}

This is the first we’ve heard of Sr. Sly, and unfortunately not much more can be said about this mysterious band, (except that some bloggers have guessed that the project may feature members from Foster the People and/or Ko Ko).

SURES – “Stars” {Pop/Rock}

This single is off the Australia band’s four-track EP of the same title; to check out their previously released surf poppy single “Poseidon” click here, and to watch the music video for “Stars” click here.

Menomena – “Capsule” {Alternative Rock}

Here’s yet another single off the Portland group’s forthcoming LP Moms, which is set to be released on September 18th; (the first single off the album, “Heavy is as Heavy Does,” was released back in July).

Bob Dylan – “Duquesne Whistle” {Folk/Country}

The latest Bobby D single will be featured on his 35th (!) LP Tempest which is set to be released September 11th. The music video for the track was just posted online the other day, and was directed by the Australian stuntman Nash Edgerton; (check it out here).
