The Music Tapes – “Playing ‘Evening'” {Psych Pop} + Free download

This grower of a track from the Athens, Georgia-based band is off their new album Mary’s Voice – their first release since 2008. Some members were previously involved in other musical projects like Neutral Milk Hotel, The Olivia Tremor Control and even the Elephant 6 Collective, and word on the street is that they plan on performing their next tour in a circus tent.

Karen O – “Strange Love” {Alternative Pop}

This new Karen O track ain’t no “Y Control” or “Date With the Night” but that’s because it’s going to be featured in Tim Burton’s upcoming kiddie film Frankenweenie. In a recent interview Karen O explained how the tune is influenced by the 1998 film Beetlejuice, and was apparently written to accompany Frankenweenie’s closing credits.

After weeks of waiting for the new Calvin Harris collaboration track with Florence and the Machine’s Florence Welch, the famed Scottish DJ/producer has finally posted the single via his Soundcloud account. The track is off his Harris’ new album 18 Months, which also features Dizzee Rascal, Ellie Goulding and Tinie Tempah.
