Moon Duo – “Sleepwalker” {Psych Rock} + Free download

Thanks to a screeching sitar sound that channels the psych rock masters Brian Jonestown Massacre, this is definitely one track you want to include on your iPod playlist this summer. The duo is based out of San Francisco, and are the side project of the Wooden Shjips’ guitarist Ripley Johnson.

John Cale – “I Wanna Talk 2 U” {Rock}

No, this isn’t some kind of sick musical joke: One of the founding members of  The Velvet Underground is back with a brand new solo album (titled Shifty Adventures in Nookie Wood) which is set to be released October 1st; (so make sure you pencil it into those music nerd calendars).

Deadmau5 – “There Might Be Coffee” {Electronic}

In between ranting and raving about everything from Madonna to Paris Hilton (and rightfully so), Joel Zimmerman AKA Deadmau5 found the time to release a brand new track exclusively via his Soundcloud account.

Grizzly Bear – “Yet Again” {Alternative Rock}

“Yet Again” is the second single off the Brookyln-based band’s new album Shields, which is set to be released September 18th via Warp Records. The band will be performing the track on The Colbert Report at the end of the month as part of the Stephest Colbchella RocktAugustFest.

David Byrne + St. Vincent – “Weekend in the Dust” {Experimental Pop/Funk}

In case you haven’t already heard, the former Talking Head-er has teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Annie Erin Clark AKA St. Vincent to record a collaborative album together titled Love This Giant; (and if you pre-order the album now you will receive a free download of the track).

The Helio Sequence – “Hall of Mirrors” {Alternative Rock} + Free download

Sub Pop just posted this brand new Helio Sequence tune earlier this week (which is off their forthcoming album Negotiations) and are also making the single available as a free download. The album is set to be released on September 11th.

The Darkness – “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” {Glam Rock}

With such polarizing sounds, it may come as a bit of a shock that the glam rockers have decided to cover one of the most notable electronic bands in history, but The Darkness somehow managed to pull it off. The track is off the band’s forthcoming album Hot Cakes, which is due out in a couple of weeks.

Woods – “Size Meets the Sound” {Psych Rock}

This track is the second single off Woods’ forthcoming album Bend Beyond (with the first single being “Cali in a Cup“). This is actually the seventh full-length album the band has released, as well as their second release of 2012.

The Sea and Cake – “Harps” {Synthpop} + Free download

The latest single from this Chicago-based band is off their tenth full-length album Runner, which will be released September 18th on Thrill Jockey.

Thee Oh Sees – “Flood’s New Light” {Garage Rock}

The Bay Area garage rockers are back with yet another album (Putrifiers II), which is due out next month. This is the second single the band has posted off the new album, with the first being “Lupine Dominus.”

Animal Collective – “Today’s Supernatural” {Experimental Rock}

The Baltimore-based Animal Collective debuted this track during their new weekly radio program, which also included mixes from Panda Bear, Haunted Graffiti and Black Dice; (for more info click here).
