Montreal, Quebec has become the capital of the Canadian indie music scene over the past few years, and Parlovr is just one of the many reasons why.
Parlovr (pronounced “Parlour”) released their self-titled album back in 2008, and over the past few years the band has been touring with the Handsome Furs (another Montreal-based band), the Arctic Monkeys, Surfer Blood and Franz Ferdinand. “Holding on to Something” is off the band’s forthcoming album Kook Soul, which is set to be released this spring. (The song may start off a little poppy, but then halfway through the track morphs and builds into an intense explosion of sound, Nirvana-style).
If you like what you hear then I highly recommend you also check out the epic music video for Kook Soul’s first single (“Pen to the Paper”) here.
The band is also slated to perform at the SXSW 2012 music festival in Austin, Texas next week, along with Thee Oh Sees, Shout Out Out Out Out, the Alabama Shakes, Class Actress and Yukon Blonde. (More details on the line-up here).
